Weinam Creek Wetlands District Park – open for public comment

8th April 2009

Locals have a chance to have a say on how the Weinam Creek Wetlands Park at Redland Bay is used in the future through Redland City Council’s latest round of community engagement.

Council is undertaking a general survey of the local community to find out how it currently uses the park and to gain ideas on how it could be improved.

Feedback will be used to develop a draft landscape master plan for future improvements at the park.

It is open for public comment until 24 April 2009.

The Weinam Creek Wetlands Park is a district park that stretches from Moores Road, Redland Bay, south to Cleveland-Redland Bay Road, Redland Bay, and is used largely for picnicking and play.

Redlands Mayor Melva Hobson said this was the first stage of community engagement relating to the park. I encourage all residents to get involved and convey their ‘wish list‘ for the Weinam Creek Wetlands District Park,” she said

“Council will present a draft master plan based on these initial survey results for public comment as the second step in this process.

Residents in the immediate vicinity of the park will receive a hardcopy newsletter which includes a copy of the survey. The survey is also available online at Council’s website www.redland.qld.gov.au (follow the links to Environment > Management Plans > Draft Landscape Master Plans).

For further information, or to submit your feedback, visit Council’s website www.redland.qld.gov.au or contact Environmental Management on 3829 8946.
