National search under way to complete new-look executive leadership group

16th April 2009

Redland City Council has begun a national search to recruit four General Managers to head up the currently vacant Customer Services and Corporate Services Departments and the newly created Regulatory Services and Governance Departments.

CEO Gary Stevenson, who joined Council last September, said Council was seeking candidates with the skills and commitment to deliver its new organisational development plan.

Council adopted the new plan in March, which created a new structure and a far-reaching plan for the future with the underlying themes of, “sustainable, effective, clever and caring”.

“It made sense to delay the executive search until we had a clear direction on the structure of our Executive Leadership Group,” Mr Stevenson said.

He said the new team faced an exciting and challenging era at Council, both from an organisational and community perspective.

“Council has a strong commitment to engage openly and effectively with our community and we are currently in the midst of the development of Redlands 2030, a new community plan that will shape the City over the next 30 years.

“We’re also working hard to address the long-standing issues associated with the Southern Moreton Bay Islands, as well as managing population growth and ensuring our natural environment is protected. The successful General Manager candidates will play a strong leadership role in helping Council effectively address these challenges.”

Recruitment for all four positions will be handled by McArthur Recruitment Services (Qld) Pty Ltd, which can be contacted on 3211 9100 or brisbane@mcarthur.com.au.
