Saltwater Festival 09 - Russell Island

On the 6th and 7th of June 2009 (Queens birthday weekend) the picturesque Moreton Bay area and its friendly locals will play host to The Saltwater Festival. This is the inaugural event in an innovative new series that celebrates our recreational love of the Worlds Oceans and waterways.

The events are built around some of the worlds most beautiful and challenging waterways. The same waterways that have provided food, sport and entertainment for us and our indigenous cultures for thousands of years. Wrapped around a host of challenging paddling events, will be great local music, food, games and activities for anybody who loves the aquatic side of outdoor life. The events have a big family feel with a huge emphasis on bringing people together and sharing new experiences in and out of the water.

The festival will roll out over two days at various locations around Australia and the world. It is being kicked off with 'The Saltwater Festival - Russell Island paddle Challenge'. The event was conceived by surf legend Trevor Hendy, Monster Wave surfer Matt Cook and a team of their saltwater loving friends.
