The Friendly Bay Islander
There is plenty to keep islanders entertained on Australia Day, Sunday, January 26.
Most clubs and restaurants have big plans for the day.

On Russell Island, the RSL Club has a day of celebration planned.

"The Russell Island RSL believes Australia Day is one of our most important days and we will be doing our best to recognise the day and to get islanders to get involved and to celebrate Australia's special day," says club president Anthony Gleeson.

There will be lots of fun, entertainment, attractions and events on the day.

A major initiative this year will be a formal recognition of the Australian Anthem and Flag to be held at 11am at the club cenotaph.
"We will formally sing the Australian National Anthem and raise the Australian flag," the club president said.

The Russell Island Bowls Club will be celebrating the day with a special Australia Day Bowls Event, which is expected to bring island bowlers out in force.

On Macleay Island there will be plenty to attract, entertain and to enjoy.
It will be definitely a big day at Club Macleay.

The club will have mini markets inside the main club in the morning with a BBQ brekkie available.

There will also have barefoot bowls at 10am on the green and the club encourages 'everyone' to come on down and 'give it a go'.
Pam and Phil at Watersedge Bistro will be cooking up their famous and very traditional Aussie Day menu throughout the day and there is live entertainment in the main club from 1pm.

The Blue Parrot Cafe on Macleay also has a big day planned.

Kerrie and Dean have organised entertainment and have some traditional Australian fare on the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Over at Pub Paradise Paul and the girls have got Kev on the stove cooking up a storm throughout the Australia Day long weekend.
On Lamb Island, the Lamb Island Recreation Club is inviting all island families to visit the club, bring your friends and join in the tasty BBQ treats and cold drinks that will prevail on the day.

Roley Moore and everyone on Karragarra Island will also be on their famous beach on Sunday 26th for their famous Australia Day celebrations. This event deserves to be experienced!

Australia Day is always one of the biggest days of the year on Coochiemudlo Island. The celebration will be on the Sunday, January 26 with a famous island Market Day.
The day will start at 8am and will conclude at around 1.30pm. There will be food, refreshments, market stalls and entertainment. And then there are the superb Coochiemudlo beaches to enjoy!
