Car Share Scheme For Weinam Creek

Redland City Council is seeking tenders from organisations to establish and operate a car share scheme at the Weinam Creek ferry terminal in Redland Bay.

The call for tender comes as a result of Council's decision (carried at 26 October General Meeting) to implement a variety of car parking options at Weinam Creek to provide a range of choices to consumers.

The Weinam Creek ferry terminal is the single point of access to the mainland for residents who live on the Southern Moreton Bay Islands – a community of over 6,500 people.

Council is committed to encouraging transport solutions that meet the demands of a growing population, as projections indicate SMBI will eventually accommodate a population of 23,000 people.

The island community makes over 1.2 million trips each year by barge and ferry services to access employment, recreation and medical services.
