Russell Island has to be one of South East Queensland’s best kept secrets. Located only 50 minutes from the Brisbane CBD, it boasts panoramic views across Moreton Bay, Stradbroke Island and south towards the Gold Coast. Russell Island 
Queensland is the largest of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands (inc. Macleay Island, Karragarra Island and Lamb Island), measuring 8km in length and 3km in width and has a population of between 2500 and 3000 people. There are many businesses located on the Island. These include a supermarket, hardware store, cafe, takeaway, video shop, RSL, bowls club, taxi service, motel, doctor, post office, library, bottle shop, chemist and many more.
Russell Island also has its own primary school, Queensland fire and rescue service and heli pad for emergencies.The weather is generally quite mild with the average temperature being 11-21 degrees in winter and 18-28 degrees in summer. When visiting Russell Island there are several accommodation options to choose from. Options include staying at one of several waterfront holiday homes to staying at the friendly Russell Island Motel which is the cheapest option. The holiday houses vary from waterfront locations to quiet bush settings while the Motel is situated in the heart town.
